West Annapolis Merchants and Vendors Prepare for Oktoberfest

Preparations are underway for the 26th Oktoberfest along Annapolis Street in West Annapolis on Sunday, September 25th. The two-block long street festival will include the traditional German food and beer and the amazing Om-pa-pa Band. This year‟s festival is a good time to visit the many shops and restaurants in West Annapolis. On the street, there will be over 100 vendors selling everything from bratwurst to fine art. West Annapolis Elementary School will be holding its Fall Festival at the same time at Annapolis Street and Melvin Avenue.

West Annapolis merchants, including Bon Vivant Antiques, Tara’s Gifts, One Petticoat Lane, and Art Things, will have their doors wide open. Cotton Seed Glory, a nationally known quilting store, will guide new and old quilters. Fine beverages will be found at both the Rutabaga Juicery and Bean Rush Café. One new restaurant, Evelyn will be opening their door for the first time. Come by bicycle and visit Green Pedals.

More than one hundred vendors under colorful tents along Annapolis Street will offer items made locally and others from as far away as Peru and Turkey. This is the time to start your Christmas shopping, or to treat yourself. Well-known jewelry designer, Silvergirl Sterling, will be there along with Annapolis Caramel Company with irresistible candies. Oktoberfest vendors include Archeologico (jewelry inspired by world travels), Wimsey Cove Maps, historic maps of Annapolis and Maryland as well as of far-away places, and Kat Marx, water colors connecting you to “home.” Pallet Refined is selling reclaimed wood art and nearby will be Cuatro Suyos with Alpaca sweaters (try your Spanish with a native speaker). At the West Annapolis Heritage Partnership „s table you can meet authors of local West Annapolis history, Eric Fredland and Constance Ramirez.

The fun of Oktoberfest continues at the Fall Festival at the new West Annapolis Elementary School. Started in 1894, the school is celebrating its brand new building and its 122 year history. There will be activities for children and tours of the new school house for all.
